Zeppelin Flights Friedrichshafen
From Friedrichshafen into the air
Here the Zeppelin was born, here the Zeppelin NT was conceived – Friedrichshafen, the city of cutting edge technology.
In Autumn 1998 in Friedrichshafen, there were thoughts of resurrecting the myth of the Zeppelin. Following a feasibility study, research and design, the Zeppelin NT took to the air for its maiden flight from the old exhibition centre “Messehalle 10” on the 18th September 1997. After receiving the type certificate from the Luftfahrtbundesamt (German CAA) in April 2001 and the approval for the Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei in August 2001, commercial passenger flights began in Friedrichshafen. From that date, the company has maintained a highly visible presence at the Bodensee Airport with the biggest hangar in southern Germany – the Zeppelin Hangar.
