Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei

Friedrichshafen’s Airline

DELAG (Deutsche Luftschifffahrts-Aktiengesellschaft), founded on the 16th November 1909, was the first airline ever to operate the airships built by Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH. In 1935, with financial backing from the government, the Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei (DZR) was founded.

The „Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei GmbH“ (DZR) was revived in January 2001 and established as the operating company for the Zeppelin NT. The company is a 100% owned subsidiary of ZLT Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik GmbH & Co KG and comparable to a commercial airline. Today, the “shipping company” is an expertise and service centre for all air operations and is the only approved training facility for Zeppelin pilots worldwide.
